Drug UsesAccutane it is used at treatment of serious forms of nodular-cystic acne at patients after ineffective treatment by other medicines, including antibiotics.
How to useYou should take Accutane twice a day during meal. Swallow a capsule with water, milk, or any other non-alcoholic drink. Observe prescriptions of your attending physician.
The dosage is prescribed by the attending physician depending on reaction of organism on Accutane. Depending on efficacy of treatment the dosage can be enlarged or reduced. In case of fast positive reaction of an organism to treatment with Accutane, it is possible to stop intake of the drug before the terminal of the prescribed course.
After the ending of course of treatment with Accutane, it is necessary to make a 2-month's rest. If after 2 months acne still have not passed, the treating doctor can prescribe second course of Accutane.
Alcohol intake is not recommended during treatment with Accutane.
Drug Class and MechanismAccutane is one of forms of vitamin A. It reduces quantity of the dermal fat produced by sebaceous glands, and also accelerates natural neogenesis of a skin.
Missed DoseTake a medicine as soon as remember. In a case if time of the next reception of a drug already approaches, it is not necessary to take the missed dose. It is necessary to wait for the next intake of a drug. Do not take a double dose of a medicine.
StorageIt is necessary to store Accutane at temperature of 77 degrees by Farenheit (25 degrees C). Short storage is allowed at temperature of 59-86 degrees by Farenheit (15 - 30 degrees C). Store Accutane in protected from high temperature, humidity, and light place out of reach of children.
Possible Side EffectsInform your doctor if any of these most common side effects persist or become bothersome:
- abnormal hair growth; abnormal skin sensations; bleeding and redness or swelling of the gums; changes in menstrual flow; chapped lips; decreased tolerance to contact lenses; dizziness; dry eyes and mouth; dry nose that may lead to nosebleeds; dry or peeling skin; fatigue; flushing; general body discomfort; hair thinning; headache; itching; lack of energy; nervousness; respiratory tract infection; sleeplessness; sweating; temporary worsening of acne; voice changes.
Seek medical attention right away if any of these severe side effects occur:
- severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); bizarre, aggressive, or violent behaviour; bowel pain; chest pain or pounding in the chest; dark urine; depression; difficult or painful swallowing; difficulty moving; excessive thirst or urination; fainting; fast heartbeat; fever; fractured or weak bones; hearing problems or ringing in the ears; increased pressure in the brain (pressure in the eye; nausea; vision changes; vomiting); joint or back pain; leg swelling; muscle weakness with or without pain; nausea; new or worsening heartburn; rectal bleeding; red patches or bruises on the legs; shortness of breath; seizures; severe birth defects; severe diarrhoeia; severe headache; skin infection; slurred speech; stomach pain or tenderness; stroke; stunted growth in children; sun sensitivity; swelling of the pancreas (fever; increased heartbeat; nausea; stomach tenderness; vomiting); swollen glands; thoughts of suicide; tightness in the lungs; vision changes; vomiting; weakness; yellowing of the skin or eyes.
